joesunga asked: Thanks for the follow. I don't cook much, but I tend to usually find ways to add alcohol (mostly beer) into my cooking. http://bit.ly/cuLsYL

Do you have any recipes you can recommend that have beer in it?

Hello, josephsunga!

Growing up, my mom used beer and onions to par-cook brats before going on the grill and sometimes she’d pour a bottle of Heineken in the liquid that she boiled the Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter ham in. I’ve also had some tasty Guinness cupcakes (similar to the ones that you posted a link to). Generally, I really like the combination of beer (esp. stouts) and chocolate. But as far as my own experiences with beer, these have mostly been straight out of the bottle / red plastic Solo cup. I’ve experimented cooking and baking with various other alcohol/liquors with varying success.

Since you asked this question, I made the unfortunate discovery that I am gluten-sensitive (i.e., I realized that gas and diarrhea aren’t the natural trade offs for drinking beer for everyone). Luckily, it’s not full-blown Celiac’s disease, but enough of a discomfort to make me adopt a gluten-free diet (most of the time cause, man, I’m not giving up fried chicken). I have yet to try any gluten-free beers, but from what I hear they’re not very good. I’m probably just going to either pass entirely or willingly suffer the consequences.

Let me know if you come across any recipes that you like!
